21st Century Family Camping
April 24, 2007
Well, the weather is warming up, the birds are singing, the sky is blue, and the nights are clear and starry.
Time to go camping!
Today's FamilyFirst pick is a camping resource site. Through entertaining and instructional videos, camping tips and shortcuts, they show families how to do hassle-free and comfortable 21st century camping. A far cry from the way our forefathers did it, for sure!
It's called 21st Century Family Camping. You're gonna like it. The website's author, Myrtha Chang, has a sense of humor. Witness her comments on the lack of camping in her home country:
Where I grew up in the bustling skyscraper city of Singapore, only homeless people went ‘camping’. Even then, they were a rare find because the infamous social engineers of Singapore were quick to spot them and usher (read shove) them back to civilization. Think about it, if it’s illegal to chew gum in that country, you think they’ll let you lie on a grass patch in the middle of tourist-ridden Orchard Road to gaze at the Big Dipper?
Her sense of humor comes through in articles like How to Be an Obnoxious Camper, How to Tell a Campfire Ghost Story, and an article on what happens when city slickers go camping.
But there i9s plenty of genuine, useful advice for camping without roughing it TOO much. After all, we ARE in the 21st century now. Enjoy.
