Adrian Cronauer

“What do I write about?”
Those words frequently haunt anyone who cranks out a column, whether it's a Mickey Mouse writer like mineself, or Jack Anderson. When I get writer's block, I frequently turn to whatever music I'm listening to at crunch time.
Today, it's the soundtrack from Good Morning Vietnam. Ergo, what would be more natural than a site dedicated to Adrian Cronauer?
With that, I present today's pick: Mobile Radio Technology's The Real Life of Adrian Cronauer.
It's an article/interview with the jock who helped get the US troops through the horrible experience that was Vietnam.
Not surprisingly, the real-life Cronauer differed from Robin Williams' manic portrayal. Adrian was actually quite tame in his show. But he did like to begin each day's broadcast with a loud, primeval “GOOD MORNING VIETNAM!”
You'll enjoy reading the account of a sergeant who found himself behind a microphone, and who provided a genuinely tangible benefit to his fellow troops as a result.

How come every time I come here (which is daily at least) I get immediately thrown to another site, and have to back up one site - every time?
