Alan Freed

During our tour of rock and roll legends, it is important that we include one that never sang a song, or played an instrument, yet is very important to the music. His site, the one we are visiting today, is about the man who is credited with coining the phrase rock and roll.

His name is Alan Freed. He was a disc jockey in the town that is now home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland, Ohio. At this site you can learn what took him from behind the microphone to the prominence that he held in the music industry. There is an excellent section that features news articles and pictures of the era, as well as music clips spread throughout the site.

The influence of Mr. Freed cannot be denied. His place in music history is held by three little words, rock and roll.
