American Bone Marrow Donor Registry

Through the miracle of modern science and medicine, we are doing more to improve the quality and length of life in the world today. The quality of care, the type and variety of medicines, and the miracle of miracle, the ability to transplant from one body to another the gift of life. Today's Family First Site looks at a site that furthers the message of the latter.

Called The American Bone Marrow Donor Registry, it is a site that educates and informs cyber visitors of the need for this type of donor. Their mission is to educate and recruit donors, to facilitate the search for donors and coordinate the efforts of medical facilities, to help reduce the cost of the procedures, and provide advocacy for both the donor and the patient. The importance of this organization is very well presented, and their use of the Internet to spread their message is well described.

So take a few minutes to read the site, and spread the message by sharing it with others. It will be some time well spent. The importance of this site struck home today, when I learned a fellow worker was suffering from bone cancer, and was undergoing a bone marrow transplant. That is why I decided to highlight this site today.
