Art Deco Needlepoint

My wife and I are rabid fans of anything art deco. The modern style which arose in the 20's and never really went out of style is manifest in man y of our most familiar structures and objects we encounter daily.

For instance, the Chrysler Building, the Guggenheim Museum, and many classic hotels in Miami and Key West show the classic art deco style. Ever been to Hoover Dam? Pure art deco (and beautiful!) The long,. Flowing cars of the thirties and forties also reflect art deco style. And it can be seen in many of our homes (especially mine!) in the form of smooth chrome and glass objects like lampshades, vases, dishes, etc.

I'm artistically challenged, to be sure. I couldn't tell you the difference between art nouveau and Gothic. But I can spot art deco before my wife can, and that's quite an accomplishment!

With that, I present today's FamilyFirst pick: Art Deco Needlepoint Art.

You don't normally associate art deco with needlepoint. But the site's creator proudly shows her hard work, and it's quite impressive. Her needlepoints capture the look, feel and spirit that is art deco.

It's not a huge site, but a fun one. Enjoy.
