Astrophotography by Jerry Lodriguss

Back when I had time for such pursuits, I used to greatly enjoy photography.

A trick that I learned from a photography book many years ago was on finding the North Star, aiming a tripod-monted camera straight at it, and leaving the shutter open most of the night. The result was an amazing pattern of circular star tracks, with the occasional meteor or jet airliner thrown in for good measure.

Well, today's FamilyFirst pick will show you how to do that, plus many more nightime-sky-shooting tricks. It's called Astrophotography by Jerry Lodriguss.

Lodriguss is an accomplished astrophotographer who has taken some amazing photos, and they are on display here.

But he also shows you how you can take some pretty amazing sky photos yourself, with equipment as simple as an inexpensive digital camera and a beanbag.

But if you have better equipment, or if you don't mind making a modest investment, the website author will show you some truly amazing photographic techniques that will allow you to take museum-quality exposures.

So get your camera and your red flashlight and go outside and take some night photos!
