BioTech

biotech.gifToday's FamilyFirst site takes us back to the basics. By that, I mean the basics of biology!

The site is entitled “BioTech,” and I'll let them describe their mission: “BioTech is a hybrid biology/chemistry educational resource and research tool on the World Wide Web. BioTech is intended to be a learning tool that will attract students and enrich the public's knowledge of biology issues in the world today. At the same time, BioTech is also a research tool for those already involved in the broad subject of biology. By providing information about resources, as well as avenues for further exploration, we intend to open the doors of biology resources to post-secondary students, researchers, and faculty.”

So what do they have to offer? Well, a lot of biological knowledge in an easy-to-swallow format! For instance, check out their online dictionary, which contains over 8000 detailed biolological terms. The terms are accurately defined in plain English, so you reaserch students and you casual surfers alike will enjoy taking advantage of this nice resource.

In addition, check out their Acronyms Database. This resource allows you to search for chemicals by by their common names. For instance, suppose you needed info on lysergic acid diethylamide. Never heard of it? Okay, how about LSD?

A particular strong point of the site is its wealth of researched links.

And are you an aspiring biochemist? Take the interactive course on glycolysis and learn something about human biochemistry! It should make for some impressive water cooler talk at the office at the very least!

So enjoy this knowledgable, interesting, classically designed site.
