Finding quality entertainment for children these days can be a challenge. Most television and movies contain subject matter that isn't appropriate for young ones. Books can be the same, but easier to monitor. Part of being a responsible parent is ensuring that your children are protected from the bad things in life as long as possible. Today's Family First Site visits a site that has quality entertainment material, and some well-known names as well.

The name of the site is BloodHoundsinc.com, and it is the companion website to the popular best selling books and videos. BloodHounds, Inc. is a comedy-adventure series featuring the hilarious, fun-filled adventures of Kid Detectives, Sean and Melissa, and their pet bloodhound, Slobs. There are five books in the series, and each book has a companion video. There is also a Fun & Games section, where you can help search for clues in games based on the stories. The stories are fun to read and watch, and teaches lessons that can last a lifetime.

The videos feature a familiar face to television viewers. The actor who plays the teen detectives father is Richard Thomas, best known for his role as John-boy on the television series "The Waltons". "I support the idea of a children's series like Bloodhounds, Inc.," said Thomas, "A show which entertains kids while it's teaching them some of life's lessons in compassion and responsibility, should always have a place in the world of television."

The series was recently honored with an Award of Excellence by the Film Advisory Board's Evaluation Committee. They state the shows are excellent entertainment for children ages 5 - 12, and the shows involve them in solving mysteries, which adds to the excitement. I agree that these shows and books are worth getting for your children. I wish they were available when my children were younger, but then there are always grandchildren in the future.
