Cauldron Con 2005
June 08, 2005

This year is turning out to be a good one for science fiction fans of all shapes and sizes. The long awaited finale to the Star Wars saga is currently in theaters. The latest Marvel Comics superheroes to become flesh hit the big screen in July, when you will be able to see the Fantastic Four battle Dr. Doom. The sixth and next-to-the-last Harry Potter novel, "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" goes on sale the same month. And in November, the fourth Harry Potter movie, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" comes out. So it is a big year. All the more reason for sci-fi fans to get together and party hardy. One of the biggest parties is set for August, and is the subject of today's Family First Site.
The name of the site (and the event) is called Cauldron Con 2005. Cauldron Con is a multi-genre fantasy and sci-fi themed convention taking place on 12th, 13th and 14th August 2005 at the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort and Conference Center in Danvers, Massachusetts. Here you can get the latest scoop on what is going on, what is being planned, who will be there, and how you can get a place for your fan club, be a volunteer, or help sponsor the event.
What is really exciting about this event is the celebrities that will be attending, and how accessible they will be. Among those scheduled to attend are John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca from Star Wars), Ray Park (Darth Maul from Star Wars), Devon Murray (Seamus Finnegan from Harry Potter), Jamie Waylett (Vincent Crabbe from Harry Potter), James and Oliver Phelps (Fred and George Weasley from Harry Potter), and Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter). There are other celebrities scheduled to attend as well, and as usual, all appearances are subject to change. But it is possible to get autographs from them, as the schedule has quite a bit of time for signings built in to it. (The event schedule, as well as ticket forms, autograph form, and special event form are available online at the site as well).
This convention sound like it is going to be a lot of fun. Remember to put it in your calendar for August, but you may want to get your tickets early. With all of the sci-fi activity in the entertainment world this year, this is sure to be a sell out. And, just like at Hogwarts, I am sure you won't be able to just apparate into any of the events, even if you are the proper age.
