China's Free Markets

The explosion of the Internet has led to an increased awareness of the world around us. Learning about the world around us is beneficial to both adults and children.

Today's FamSite goes to China. Here you can see the changes that have taken place in this country since the government abolished the People's Communes, and went to a free market system for the sales and distribution of fresh produce. This photographic exhibit is an interesting look at life in what was at one time the most closed and mysterious nation in the world. Visits to Beijing, Shanghai, and many small villages to experience what it is like to live there.

This is truly an educational site, one that could be recommended to any student studying either economics or sociology. Either way, it makes for an interesting visit.
