CHN College Basketball
March 12, 2005
I have been working a lot of hours lately, way too many in my humble opinion. Sometimes I forget what week it is, or was. But an email from a Family First visitor yesterday reminded me what month it, and what season it is. He suggested a site that covers the Big Dance, one of the NCAA major sporting events. So today's Family First Site takes a time out for some sports, and heasd on over to College Hoops Net for some b-ball.
The site that was suggested to us reminded me that it is almost time for the annual NCAA College Basketball Tournament, or as it is known in other circles, the Big Dance. It starts off in just under a week with 64 of the best teams in the nation, and will culminate on April 5th in St. Louis, Missouri with a new basketball champion crowned. Inbetween, there will the Sweet 16, the Big 8, and the Final 4. There will also be heartbreak for teams that lost games they were supposed to win, joy for teams that were supposed to be doormats for the big teams, and a whole lot of great basketball.
At this site, you can find any and all information about the upcoming tournament. In addition to that, you can find a wealth of information about college basketball at every level. There is indepth coverage of not only the big schools like Georgetown and UConn, but also the little schools like Winthrop, Farleigh Dickinson, and Central Florida (yes, they are already in the tournament). There is also coverage on Womens Basketball as well, with coverage of their tournment featured alongside the Mens. There is a section for shopping for your favorite teams souvineirs (videos, books, shirts, etc.), links on purchasing tickets, recruiting and draft sections, and a forum to discuss any and everything about basketball. Want to build your own basketball court? Everything you need to do that is here, including dimensions and materials.
Basketball is, in my opinion, the last college sport where the spirit of atheletic competition is still at the forefront. Watch any game and you will see that in the both the crowd reaction and the way the players play the game. These are young men and women who are living up to their athletic potential, and having a good time while they do. Watch the upcoming NCAA Tournament and you will see what I am talking about.
