Cow Abductions
January 26, 2007
As you know, I try to pick sites that aren't too graphics-heavy for FamilyFirst picks. I've had broadband since 1998, but I realize that many folks out there are still chugging along at dialup speeds.
With that, I apologize to them with regards to today's pick. The site consists of a pretty large Flash file.
However, the subject of the site is of such importance that I ask you to bear with me. Its message is serious, and should be listened to.
The site is called Cowabduction.com. Its purpose is to educate the public on a serious problem that is growing at an alarming rate: the abduction of bovines by aliens.
At presstime, 239,696 cattle had been officially listed as abducted by extraterrestrial visitors. Or, as one farmer in the film available for viewing on the site referred to them, “thieves.”
The fact is that this is a serious problem in many ways. First, cattle that witness abduction of their herdmates become traumatized, slashing milk production. Many are afraid to go out to the pasture afterwards.
Additionally, this causes economic pressure on farmers, who have to increase the price of the surviving beef. An independent study suggests that alien abduction adds 15 cents to every Quarter Pounder with cheese alone.
This is not a laughing matter, friends. I hope you take today's FamilyFirst site with the serious air it demands.
The next cow abducted could be one of your own.
