My children are finally growing up and leaving home. As my wife and I reflect on the job that we did raising them, we find that we made some good choices, and some bad choices. The art and science of raising a family have changed over the past 18 to 20 years. So have the resources. I remember my mom giving us a book when we found we were expecting our first child, a book by Dr. Spock. She said it worked for her, it should work for us. Today, with the Internet, cable and satellite television, and electronic books, the amount of information available has increased many thousand fold. Today's Family First Site is a perfect example of just such as site that can help.
The site is called FamilyResource.com. Their mission is providing tools for life through counseling and education. It is a web site that is laid out and reads like a magazine. There is a wide variety of subject areas covered, from parenting and relationships to pregnancy and lifestyles. There are articles covering the same variety of topics. One that I found interesting was "Burdensome BackPacks: Too Heavy To Bear?" focused on what children carry around school, what they carry them in, and how they can be harmful to their growth by their being too heavy. Another one was "The Stranger In Your Child's Life", which was not about a person, but the television and the electronic media.
The subjects here are well presented and easy to read. The resources here use the latest Internet technology craze, the BLOG, to provide information. There are interesting reviews on a wide variety of topics, including the "Wacky Races The Complete Series" DVD cartoon series (I can remember that when it was first on television, does that date me or what?).
Feel free to explore this site with confidence that the information you find here will be informative and helpful. There is such a variety that you may not find everything the first time you visit, but that will make coming back that much more enjoyable.
