Sometimes, you need a little health care advice, but don't want to go to the clinic (and wait in that lobby populated by folks with every illness imaginable!).
What do you do?
Well, you might visit today's FamilyFirst site: familydoctor.org. You just might find the answer to the nagging little health issue that's bugging you.
Here's their mission:
This Web site is operated by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), a national medical organizations representing more than 93,700 family physicians, family practice residents and medical students. All of the information on this site has been written and reviewed by physicians and patient education professionals at the AAFP. Visit the AAFP Web site to learn more about the AAFP.
Let's take a look at a common childhood ailment: croup. When my now-eighteen-year-old-son was an infant, he woke up with a loud hoarseness that scared me so badly that I remember flying across town at 80 miles per hour to get to the emergency room.
I discovered that night that croup, while sounding horrible, really was not a serious condition. In fact, the doctor explained, one of the best treatments for it was to take the child out into the cold night air (croup would invariably occur when the temperatures were cold).
Well, that's exactly what this site recommends!
There's a lot of other valuable information here as well, from wellness recommendations to how to choose a doctor to picking an over-the-counter medicine to lots more.
So here's to your good health! Enjoy today's FamilyFirst site.
