Firefox With Google Bar
November 15, 2005
Okay, repeat after me: Firefox rules!
Firefox has changed the way we surf the web. It's an open-source web browser that provides a fast, safe, secure experience on the internet.
I have been using Firefox since it was Firebird. In other words, for a LONG TIME! And furthermore, I strongly suggest you use it too.
Why? Well, reason number one is SECURITY. Nine out of ten web surfers are using Internet Explorer. And sadly, they are putting their operating systems at risk. Why? Because IE is designed to work directly with the system kernel. Out of the box, it is also rife with potential holes for hackers to poke into your system and cause sever problems with your computer. We're talking system crashes, identity theft, all sorts of bad stuff. If you can hack IE, you can get straight to the guts of your system.
That's why Firefox is inherently better. It's just a software application that rides “on top” of your system kernel. If a hacker was to exploit it, the potential for damage is much less.
IE gets patched once a month, on average. If you are fully updated, it's fairly safe, although it may be vulnerable to attacks in between those monthly updates.
Firefox's community of developers addresses its infrequent system flaws within hours! By default, Firefox is set to check for updates and let you know if they are available.
So from a security standpoint, Firefox is vastly superior to IE. What about from a practicality standpoint?
Tabbed browsing alone is reason to use it. Having multiple web pages in tabs, where you can quickly jump from one to the other by clicking those tabs, ROCKS! You'll never want to go back.
But Firefox's extensions are even better. Right now, I'm using extensions that quickly and automatically tell me how my Adsense account is doing (updated every 20 minutes) and displaying the results in my bottom browser bar. I'm also running Fasterfox, which makes linked pages load while I'm browsing, making for near-instantaneous page loads. I'm using Adblock, which lets me block annoying ads from sites I repeatedly visit. I'm also using a context menu that lets me instantly access negative eBay feedback on buyers and sellers.
Those are just a few extensions. There are hundreds more! And the Google toolbar completes the package.
So if you have not yet dumped dangerous, buggy, dysfunctional Internet Explorer, download Firefox with the built-in Google bar today. Start surfing the net safer and with more functionality than you ever have before!

You can keep IE 5 or 6. In fact, you are stuck with them! They won't uninstall. Firefox is open-source software, free of charge. I assumed everyone knew that. My bad. The big link at the bottom gets you this great browser.
It imports everything from IE, too, including bookmarks, saved passwords, etc. Download this product!
Interesting how one can talk about insecurities of
IE on a Family First website? which I would assume is child safe only to see popups in Firefox.
very nice site.

google bar from my google
