Historic Hotels of America
June 16, 2007
Have you decided where you're heading on vacation this summer?
How about staying in a historic hotel?
There are many classic hotels all over the US that could prove to be fun destinations for your travel. And some of them have special projects for kids that your young ones will love!
Today's FamilyFirst site is called Historic Hotels of America. Here's their mission:
A program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Historic Hotels of America (HHA) identifies quality hotels that have faithfully maintained their historic integrity, architecture and ambiance. These hotels are promoted nationally and internationally to those who prefer historic settings for their leisure and business travel. Member hotels in this program must be located in a building that is at least 50 years old and listed in, or eligible for, the National Register of Historic Places or recognized locally as having historic significance.
They have 213 hotels all over the country. And check out the kid's programs they have going on:
At the Fairmont San Francisco in San Francisco, your child can be doorman for a day. He or she can hail down a cab with their own keepsake whistle, while wearing an official doorman's cap.
At Memphis's Peabody, they can be the Duckmaster's Assistant as the famous birds march into the lobby to get to the fountain.
There are a lot more hotels with special programs for kids, so go check it out!
