History of the Cell Phone
March 21, 2007
Cell phones. They have turned into a necessity that is like the Dallas Cowboys: people either love them or hate them.
Personally, I'm a hater. I carry mine with me everywhere I go, but snarl at it when it goes off. It seems like it's always somebody I don't want to hear from telling me something I don't want to know ;-).
And then, there are drivers who talk on them. I live in a state that I have always theorized had the worst drivers in the US. NOW, they have cell phones!
But, they have proven to be something we just can't get along without, even though we did so very nicely for thousands of years.
With that slightly vitriolic intro, I present today's FamilyFirst site: Wikipedia's History of the Cell Phone.
The cell phone is something that has just sprung up on us, as far as we Baby Boomers like myself are concerned. I mean, push button phones are still semi-newfangled.
But the Wikipedia article shows that they actually go back to the early 1950's! Wow, I never thought of the electronic nuisances coming from the same decade that gave us the hula hoop.
Anyhow, enjoy, and if you spot something that needs clarification or correction, edit!
