Human.org

Okay, it's time to get serious.

Perhaps you've heard that hundreds of human starve to death each hour.

Do you know that they have names? Do you know what their names are?

Perhaps you've assumed that these unfortunate humans are nameless.

You were wrong.

Today's FamilyFirst site puts names on those who tragically starve to death in a world that destroys excess food in the name of keeping prices desirable to farmers, middlemen, and retailers. It's called Human.org. Here's their mission:

On this site you will see information about hunger, AIDS, and preventable diseases. Recently, 22 countries joined together to give 0.7% of national income in aid as a $195 billion solution to these problems. You can play a key role in support of this solution by printing a simple letter.

Hungry people are trapped in extreme poverty. It's not that they are looking for free handouts, it's that they don't have the opportunity to provide for themselves in the economic situation in which they unfortunately find themselves.

The site allows you to do something: write a letter requesting that just 0.7% of the nation's national income be given to combat world hunger.

That's a drop in the bucket. That wouldn't even pay for a week's supply of machine gun bullets for the U.S. Military. Yet, it would have saved the lives of Kabira Diongue, Swati Mata, Hakim Dondo, Sangwan Nguyen, Ms. Monize Menezes, and Mr. Nailah Chirwa.

Unfortunately, it's too late for them now.

Do something. You have the power.
