iTunes
September 16, 2004
Like most Americans these days, I'm packing a few extra pounds. Truth be told, I'm packing more than a few extra pounds. So I decided to start watching what I eat, and getting a little more exercise. I took to walking in my neighborhood, 2-3 miles a day. But walking is boring, so I decided to get an MP3 player to relieve some of the boredom of the trek. I did a lot of research, and decided on the Apple iPod. Being a dedicated Windows user, I was intrigued by using an Apple product, but was impressed with it, both in its design, and in the software that it used. I purchased it just about the time Apple released the Windows version of their iTunes software. That software is the subject of today's Family First site.
Apple iTunes is a two pronged program that is free to download and use. On one hand it is digital jukebox that allows you to organize, share, and enjoy your digital music. You can import music, create playlists, rip and burn CDs, play music through your stereo, in short you can share music with your entire family. But iTunes is also a music download store, where you can purchase music legally with a single click of your mouse button. Apple has over 1,000,000 tracks from over 600 independent labels. You can buy entire albums or single tracks, music or audiobooks, and radio programs. There is an excellent search engine which allows you to search for any song, artist, or album.
In short, iTunes is a valuable software program that makes listening to your digital music collection easier, and more enjoyable. I have started using this program exclusively for all my music needs, and it is quite easy to use. So hop on over and check it out. I am sure you will share my opinion of this software.

It's interesting that even after doing the research you went with the most expensive, most proprietary player (that also lacks FM and replaceable batteries), and are paying top dollar for arguably "low" bit rate files (several online music vendors offer 256k .mp3 files for the same price (or less!) that iTunes charges), and while I have never used iTunes, I understand that their files are not compatible with other music players!
Usually style goes out the door in the face of overwhelming facts, but I guess not in your book.
They do look good, I'll give you that one, but I expect a little more for my money, thank you very much.
Craig,
In short, you're missing out with those blinkers on.
256k mp3? So what - it's still an mp3 with it's inherant limitations. AAC sounds great at 128k and the whole point is that IT TAKES LESS DISK SPACE. Ever compared an mpeg 4 stream to mpeg 2? (DVD is mpeg2). Mpeg4 LOOKS BETTER and guess what? It's a SMALLER FILE / LOWER BITRATE.
Add in the ease of use with a Mac or PC plus great FUNCTIONAL design and the iPod is the winner to anyone who does their research.
Craig you sound like a real jerk, also your opinion about itune is not INFORMED yet you spew it anyway.
Hmm...must be a right-winger and republican.
