There have been many, many voices on the landscape of great rock and roll music. Many have shone brightly for just a bit, then vanished. Sadly, a few have endured because the promotion, or the hook, far outweighed the actual talent. But a few voices are recognized as classic, timeless, and greatly influential on later musical genius. And these rightly demand that tribute be paid to them by their fans, or the fans of the possessors of the aforementioned influenced latter-day genius.
Today's FamilyFirst site pays homage to an artistic icon, which nobody can deny. Her name is Roberta Joan Anderson, but perhaps you better recognize her stage name: Joni Mitchell.
The site is JoniMitchell.com, and before you prejudge it as an egotistical self-worshiping site, note this disclaimer:
JoniMitchell.com receives no financial support from Joni, her management, or her record company. It is fully funded by Les Irvin and the community of fans across the globe, just like you.
So there you have it. This is a fan site, and it's as well done as such a site can be.
Who is celebrated here? Joni the musician, of course, but also Joni the artist.
For example, at press time, her exhibition at Saskatoon's Mendel Art Gallery entitled The Amazing Childhood of Joni Mitchell was being highlighted. The Canadian-born artist's earliest years were documented, including individuals that were highly influential on her yet-to-be-created works of art.
But it's Joni the singer-songwriter that we are most familiar with, and she is also well documented here.
Her works spanning more than forty years are documented here via lyrics, guitar tabs, a comprehensive discography, and a ton of objective reviews.
And I have just scratched the surface as to what content is collected here.
So savor this artist. And enjoy today's FamilyFirst site.
