KeepVid

Today's FamilyFirst site requires some careful reading before you go visit it. So please take a moment and read this entire review.

The site is called KeepVid. What they offer is an easy way to save your favorite YouTube videos! It also works with virtually any site that offers streaming video.

Here's the scenario: You're watching something great on YouTube. You really want to share it with your buddies at work tomorrow. Going to YouTube from work is strictly verboten. What do you do?

Well, you go to KeepVid.com, drag their button to your browser's links toolbar, and then proceed to YouTube and find the video you want to keep.

Once the video just starts to stream, click your browser bar's new button to KeepVid. You will be transported to KeepVid and given a link to a file that you can download and save. Once it downloads, name it whatever you want and give it an flv extension. Example: Funny prank.flv.

Now, if you have an flv player (it's a Flash file) installed, you can just double-click the file in Explorer to play it. Or, if you don't have one, you can download a free one at KeepVid's site. The file will open up and be the same movie you saw at YouTube!

Now, here's the part you need to read before visiting: There are links to popular videos at KeepVid's site. BE CAREFUL ABOUT ANY YOU MIGHT CLICK ON! They may not be family-safe. But the process of saving streaming videos is certainly a family-safe operation.

So try saving your own favorite streaming videos for free today!
