Kelley Blue Book
January 03, 2005
Yesterday, Family First visited a site that was intended to help automobile owners keep their vehicles maintained and running. Today it struck me, what if someone is just looking for a car. Where do they start? What can they do to figure out if they are paying too much (or too little) for a car? So I started looking for a resource that seems to be an icon in the auto dealers world, and would use it to complement our previous site. And I found just the one.
The site is called The Kelley Blue Book. It is the web site for a database that has been around longer than computers, some 75 years and going strong. Ask any of your parents or grandparents, and they will remember that this resource used to be a little blue book that contained the value of automobiles, both as a trade-in and for what to pay for them. But thanks to technology, the little book has increased the information that it has available for consumers. There are quick links for both new and used cars, for comparison, records checks, reviews, etc. You can get free dealer price quotes, or search for a used or new car. There is a great advice area, as well as a section on purchasing a certified pre-owned car. Most of the information is sorted by Zip Code, so you are assured the most up-to-date data for your area.
I wish I had utilized this little gem when I purchased my last vehicle. The information here allows the consumer to be better educated when they are buying a car, and anything to get the upper hand on a car dealer is okay by me.
