Saturday mornings have long been an entertainment time for childern. I remember them as a time I would watch cartoons without my mom interupting me too much. Over the years the type of Satuday morning entertainment has changed, moving away from animated shows to live action, and then back to animation. One of the more memorable shows were produced by Sid and Marty Krofft. Their shows were quite fun to watch, entertaining, and usually a little offbeat.

The site we are visiting today is called Krofft.net, the Krofft Fan Network. Here you can interact with fans of Sid and Mart's shows. These shows included "H.R. Pufnstuf", "Land of the Lost", "The Bugaloos", and "Lidsville". The site has links to the shows themselves, the actors that appeared in them, and downloads of audio, video, images (wallpapers, etc), and games. This site is growing all the time, new features being added to the modules, so it is fun to check back and see what is new. The news section is quite up to date, with all the latest DVD and video releases. For instance, the latest release is the entire series of "Lidsville", all of the episodes. Viewers also have a chance to comment on the news items.

Win a Lidsville DVD set!

To celebrate the release of this "Lidsville" set, Family First will be giving away two sets of DVDs. All you have to do is post your comments to this site, in the area below. Maybe a comment about your favorite Sid and Marty show, or maybe something like "I want to win....". Two winners will be selected at random to receive these DVDs, and contacted via email. So make sure your email information is correct. DVDs will be awarded February 28th, 2005.

I remember watching some of these shows. They were more appropriate for my younger sister. But they did have their moments. And due to their popularity, they have achieved a lasting place in television history. Not many programs can make that claim!

I remember growing up in the '70s with shows with that. They don't make them anymore and if they do they don't make them like they used to.

My wife and I live in China with our three young children. Obviously, we can't see classic children's entertainment like that here on Chinese TV. So we invested in the H.R. Pufnstuf DVDs and Sigmund the Sea Monster. Our kids love them. Lidsville was great too.

Wow. Thats a blast from the past. I still remember the tune (and a few words) " A liddy liddy liddyville, a nitty nitty gritty ville..." or something like that :)

We used to get these shows on saturday mornings in Australia too! I used to love the sleestacks in land of the lost. The bugerloos caused a lot of kids to get into trouble down here, we'd be inocently laying on our bean bags waiting for the show to come back from an ad break chanting the bugger, bugger, bugger theme when we'd get yelled at or cop a wack on the back of the head by our mothers or fathers - the word bugger is a low level swear word in Australia - a bit like saying hell or damn in The USA.

I always wondered what C.G Jung would have to say about the character relationships in H R Puff'n'Stuff; it really got to me as a kid.
