Legends in America
April 29, 2007
We all love to travel. We love filling the car with luggage, gasoline, and road munchies and heading off into the sunset.
It's an honest tradition. Many years ago, our parents and grandparents did the same thing. Back then Route 66 was the preferred way to motor. It seemed that EVERYBODY was motoring along its east-west route, and many towns sprang up in the middle of nowhere that took advantage of the fact that Route 66 travelers needed places to get gas, grab a bite, or crash for the night.
Route 66 wasn't the only road, though. The US has travel destinations located all over its expanse, and many of these have their own colorful histories.
Today's FamilyFirst site is called Legends of America. Here's their mission:
When you travel, do you often wonder what happened at "this place" in the past? Who lived here? What were they like? How did they live their daily lives? If that's the case for you, here at Legends of America, you will find content-rich travel destinations of the American West, including Route 66, ghost towns, outlaws, treasure tales, and even a few ghosts that we bump into along the way. Filled with both vintage and current photographs, Legends of America focuses on small out of the way places and hidden attractions that appeal to the nostalgic and historic minded, giving you more than just a paragraph, we will take you there!
It's a fun spot, and it just might determine where your next vacation takes place.
So pop in and spend some time learning about offbeat places in America you can visit, and the stories behind them.
