Magellan GPS's
September 17, 2008
I am that strangest of enigmatic paradoxes: A professional geek who is not into gadgets.
Yet, somehow, i have been led kicking and screaming into the world of hi-tech gadgetry.
Case in point: My son gave me a 30-gig iPod. He also provided me with a car stereo which accepts auxiliary input from the iPod, Result: I have a little white gadget which is streaming album after album into my speakers, several month's worth of unrepeated music.
Wow.
Second case: He convinced me of the benefits of owning a GPS. Ergo, I am now the proud possessor of a Magellan Maestro 4040, which is one sweet little critter.
I am impressed enough with Magellan, and with the 4040 in particular, that i have selected their website as today's FamilyFirst pick.
My GPS has a big 4" plus screen. It communicatwes with my cell phone via Bluetooth, so incoming calls are displayed on the screen, along with the ability to answer them. It has a slot for a memory card, so I can back up/restore.
My favorite feature: it knows when i start the car and turns itself off. It knows when I shut it off, it puts itself to sleep thirty seconds later.
See what else Magellan has to offer at today's FamilyFirst pick.

What is Magellan by the way exactly?

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

I just traded in my Roadmate 800 for the new Roadmate 1475T. The 1475T is a piece of junk. The first 2 I got from Magellan did not work. After 3 weeks I am on my third GPS. And their customer service is HORRIBLE!
I love my GPS.
