Mars Polar Lander
December 04, 1999
About two and one-half years ago, Family Site of the Day visited the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory when they successfully landed the Mars Rover on our neighboring planet. Today we return to the same site, only to witness another attempt at landing on this same planet.
Called the Mars Polar Lander, this site is the best available for up-to-date information about the project. As this is being written, it is still unknown if the landing was successful or not. But you can keep up with the all the action as it happens by visiting here. You can also find out about the other missions of the past, and what is ahead for this future mission to the planet Mars.
Space exploration is very important to the advances in our culture and society. At sites like today's, you have a front row seat to what your children and grandchildren will only know as history. Enjoy your stop here today.
