Well, at presstime, I am waiting for the greatest golf tournament that there is to resume after a rain delay.

I'm talking about The Masters, the immortal Bobby Jones' labor of love.

The Masters is golf's first major. Once upon a time, it was considered passe, a racist invitation-only celebration of snobbery.

It has rebounded in an amazing fashion.

The organizers of the event only allow four minutes of commercials per hour! That's amazing. Think about it when you watch a fat three minutes of US Open coverage before being assaulted with yet another Nike or Cadillac ad.

In addition, there is the incredible aura of tradition. Mr. Jones began the tournament as a way to get together with his good friends and get some golf in at the same time. It has turned into the premier TV golf event of the season. Yes, there are three other major tournaments, but the Masters stands on a level of its own.

Masters champions are allowed to compete in future championships as long as they live. That's yet another unique aspect of this priceless tournament.

Today's FamilyFirst site is the official one of the tournament.

Sure, you can complain about how it took Augusta National until 1990 to become "racially diversified." You can bring up how commentator Gary McCord was banished for mentioning bikini wax in describing fast green conditions. And you can bring up how Lee Elder was the first person of color to be allowed to compete at the very late year of 1975.

But my personal feeling is that Augusta National has overcome that. And that's why the official site of The Masters is today's FamilyFirst pick.
