My Rewards Game

Are having a hard time getting your child to behave? I know Avis Enderland certainly did, about 40 years ago ;-).

Well, what your kid needs is motivation. Sure, a spanking may be necessary from time to time. But children generally respond well to positive reinforcement.

Today's FamilyFirst site accentuates the positive when it comes to getting your kids to learn how to behave. It's called My Rewards Game.

It's a visual and colorful game board that easily hangs on wall like a picture. The game pieces are magnetic.

Here's how it works: Before you begin, the parent decides how many spaces you move forward for being good and how many spaces you move backwards for being bad. Perhaps one space forward for something good, and two spaces back for something bad. Hey, that reminds me of a classic Springsteen song! But I digress.

You also have to decide what the reward will be before you start. To play, move your game piece forward or backward from the start position for good or bad actions. You may move the piece several times a day, daily, or weekly. There are several things that could cause a player to go all the way back to start, such as lying or stealing. Yikes, I would have been back to start a time or two, especially when my friends and I smoked those cigarettes in 1967. ;-) Oops, I digress again.

It's a good idea to let them get to the Pot of Gold easily the first couple of times. Then make it a bit harder each go-around.

The game is very reasonably priced at about the price of a night at the movies. And it will make a parent's job much easier in the process. Check it out for yourself.
