My Tech Support

If you have a computer, you need help with troubleshooting various aspects of its operation. That's a fact.

That's why many have people like me on their speed dial. A good portion of us professional nerds are happy to give occasional free tech support to friends and family.

Notice I said occasional. ;-)

Anyhow, not every computer owner out there has the luxury of personal;ly knowing someone like myself. Where do they turn?

One excellent solution is today's FamilyFirst site. It's called My Tech Support. Here's their mission:

Welcome to My Tech Support: Your Computer Technical Resource Headquarters! Free Tech Support can be obtained by posting your problems and/or questions in our Forums. Additional resources can be found from the top menu bar above or from the box below. Please add your computer related site in our "Computer Web Directory", if you have one.

So where do you start? The best starting point would be to search the site to see if your problem has already been posted and solved. Most common problems get discussed early in the game.

If it's not covered, then register for free. Then, you can post to the forum. Or even cooler, you can chat with a tech support expert!

But the forum is well moderated and issues are quickly solved, or at least good effort is made to do so. Simple problems are handled, and pretty darned convoluted ones as well!

So the next time your smart box starts giving you grief, surf on into mytechsupport.ca. Borrow a friend's computer if yours can't get there!
