National First Ladies' Library
September 19, 2002
One of the most difficult jobs in the world is that of President of the United States. It is a 24 hour-a-day, 7 days-a-week job, with relatively low pay relative to the responsibilities of the position. But supporting each President has been a person known as the First Lady. It has not always been their wife, sometimes it was a daughter, or niece, or other relative. But the position of First Lady is just as important in many ways as that of the President.
Today's Famsite is a new one dedicated to the First Ladies of the land. Here, after reading an introductory letter by Hilary Rodham Clinton, you can view information about every First Lady. Clicking on their picture takes you to an area that you can find articles, books, monographs, and other information. There is information on the National First Ladies Library, located in Canton, Ohio, as well as links to the sponsors of both the site and the library. There is also a link to the White House, in case you would want to find out what the President is up to.
This is a great educational site, one that gives long overdue recognition to the First Ladies. Enjoy your visit here.
