New Orleans Saints Official Site

What a story.

They didn't play a single home game in 2005. They couldn't. Their stadium was full of refugees.

The Superdome became the home of thousands of people whose homes were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The team played all of its games on the road that year, with “home” games being played in LSU's Tiger Stadium and San Antonio's Alamodome.

In 2006, they got their home stadium back. They also got a house full of ecstatic fans.

They reacted well to the love. In fact, after winning just a single playoff game in their history before Saturday night, they just advanced to the NFC championship game.

They are one win away from the Big Show. In fact, if Seattle surprises Chicago (this column was written before their game), the Saints will be playing that game in the Superdome!

That will be a nice change from rows of cots across the field.

Heaven knows New Orleans needs this. A championship team has a wonderful effect on a community's spirit and self esteem. New Orleans residents are eager to hear their city mentioned in news broadcasts WITHOUT mentioning Katrina.

Today's FamilyFirst site is the official New Orleans Saints website. You'll find all the facts and figures about the Saints stars like Deuce McAlister, Drew Brees (he must have savored beating Dallas this year), and Reggie Bush.

My hat's off to you, Saints and your fans. You deserve this one.
