Newer Technology's USB Universal Drive Adaptor
July 31, 2007
When I got my first computer back in 1993, backing up files was not easy. Your two options were floppies, or tape. Floppies were unreliable, frequently failing to read after sitting for a while, and tape was about the same.
Well, we've come a long way since then. Hard drives have gotten cheap. So have computers. And many of us are on our second, third, or perhaps tenth computer.
Old (non-collectible) computers are nearly worthless on the open market. So you may have an old Pentium 200 sitting in the garage with a perfectly good 10 gigabyte drive in it.
Also, many of us aren't quite geeky enough to establish a home network, complete with shared folders so we can back up valuable data to redundant locations.
So, how can you put that old hard drive to work as a backup solution?
Just visit today's FamilyFirst site, plop down twenty-five bucks, and turn that old hard drive into a USB backup drive!
The site is a web page describing Newer Technology's USB Universal Drive Adaptor. This little dude will instantly connect your SATA drive (the newest technology), 3.5" ATA (the standard hard drive for computers three or more years old) and 2.5" drives (laptop drives).
If you have a digital camera, you probably have pictures stored on your hard drive that are priceless and irreplaceable. If you have purchased online music, you likely have mp3's that you want to keep. And if you use office applications, you no doubt have documents you don't want to lose.
My advice: If you don't have/want a home network, invest twenty-five bucks in this adaptor, plug an extra hard drive into it, and BACK UP YOUR STUFF!
