Official Website of George Takei

"Warp nine, Mr. Sulu".

Those words, and many more like them bring back memories of a television show from the 1960's that has achieved cult status, and then some. "Star Trek" is one of the best known and most watched television shows of all time. The cast and characters are some of the best-known stars of their medium. Today's Family First Site is about one of the most fascinating.

George Takei is the personal website of the man who created Mr. Sulu, the helmsman of the starship Enterprise. But there is more to his life, much more. Here you can learn about his career in Hollywood, appearances in movies and just about every prime time television show, ranging from "The Simpsons" to "Hawaii 5-0" to "The Twilight Zone". But there is more to him than just acting, and here you can learn about it. Every month there is a personal letter from George telling what he has been doing. This month he tells about New York and his recent visit there. The archives section lets you see where George has visited in the past. There is also a shop where you can get autographed pictures and books, a photo gallery and a great collection videos featuring George on some of his speaking engagements.

Stop by and have a visit with George at this very personable site. It is very well done, and truly a pleasure to spend some time here. He is truly one of the great television stars of our generation.

    THANK YOU for coming out to the public!

    I met you at a Star Trek convention in Little Rock, AR, but I was married at the time. Since then, I have divorced, gone through the coming out process a year after divorcing, and am now extremely happy with my partner, Liz.

    Your coming out is going to mean a lot to my own family, who I hope at some time will invite my partner and me to participate in family Christmases, which my father expressly forbid me to attend since I came out at age 38. I'm now almost 53.

    Your coming out is going to mean a lot to youth as well. As an educator, I really appreciate the impact your brave act will have on them. Also, you being in the public eye will help to eventually make a change in public attitude towards GLB and T individuals.

    THANK YOU!

    Mr. Takei: Mr. Sulu;

    Just a note of support for a fine actor and a fine person. I've enjoyed your character for many years and for many years to come. Star Trek is something that has given me so much enjoyment over the years and a look at group of people displaying the integrity that is so hard to find in our real world today. Thanks for the break from our hectic world.

    Congratulations on your wonderful career and know that millions feel the same.
