Open Source Alternative

One of the most gratifying movements I've seen arise since we all started going online is open source software.

Once quite rare, there are thousands of programs out there that are free for the taking, including the source code.

That means that if you're inclined to program, you can take a functional package and customize it to perfectly fill your needs.

Or, if you're like me, you can use the package as-is.

Either way, you are the winner.

Today's FamilyFirst pick is osalt.com, Open Source Alternative.

Looking for an alternative to the hundreds of dollars-priced Dreamweaver? How about KompoZer? Or perhaps Mozilla's SeaMonkey? Or Quanta Plus? These are just three alternatives, there are many more.

Or perhaps you want to adjust your partitions, but not spring for expensive Partition Magic. Well, create a bootable CD and try the Linux-powered Gparted. It's just as slick and easy, and free!

There are tons more free programs. Look around and give open source a try!
