Open Source Windows

First off all, my apologies for no columns the last two days. My DSL modem went up in smoke (after five lousy years! They don't make them like they used to! ;-). But I'm back, with a vengeance.

As you're painfully aware, I advocate open-source software. I've been a 100% Ubuntu user for over six months, and I'm proud to be done with Windows.

However, i also realize that many of you do not yet feel confident enough to take the Redmond-free plunge, operating system-wise.

That's cool. You can still make use of open-source software.

Today's FamilyFirst site is called Open Source Windows. Their mision is explained very succinctly on their front page:

Free and open-source software is good for you and for the world. This is the best Windows software that we know of. No adware, no spyware, just good software.

There you go. You can download great open-source software like Firefox, Thunderbird, Open Office, GimpShop, and lots more incredible software brought to you FREE, care of the Open Source community.

Take baby steps if you need to. Today, free Open-Source apps. Tomorrow, LINUX!
