Out From Boneville

Today’s FamilyFirst site takes us on a strange adventure. The adventure is that of getting Fone Bone and his two buddies Phoney and Smiley out of the mysterious valley and back home to Boneville.

The site is that of TellTale Games, and the game I’m reviewing is Out From Boneville.

The game is basically an exercise of interacting with other characters and making decisions and taking actions based on developments in the game as it progresses.

The game is rendered with 3D graphics that shouldn’t tax older systems too badly. But the graphics are good, make no mistake. You’ll be impressed with the vistas that open before you, from the desert to the dark cave to the valley with the river running through it (and which you have to deduce a way to cross safely).

Playing the game itself should be a snap for anyone skilled in problem-solving diversions. And if you’re not so hot at this type of mental exercise, the online hints will quickly give you as much insight as you need. In fact, you can keep asking for help until it gets pretty obvious as to what you do next!

I enjoyed this gaming experience. I noticed that the insight required to make the right decisions came easier with each level, and the online help soon became unnecessary. The game is consistent in its approach. I like that.

Kids will have fun with this, and adults won’t feel like it’s just for the youngsters.

So download the demo and try it. The game will provide you with many hours of challenging, family-safe entertainment for less than twenty bucks. I think it’s well worth it.
