ParkNet.gov

Here it is, summer vacation. It is time to pack the family into the old station wagon or mini van or motor home, and head off for some quality time, away from the worries of everyday life. But where to go? Over the next few days, the Family First Site will highlight several possible vacation spots, ones that will be fun for the whole family. After all, you have to make hay while the sun shines, and the way it's gone this year, who knows how long it will last.

Today we look at ParkNet.gov, the online site for the National Park Service (that is why it is a .gov, not a .com). Here you can find out about the parks that are maintained by our government, and the variety of parks that there are to visit. The list starts at A with the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historical Site, and ends with Zion National Park. In between you can stop at Alcatraz Island, Cape Lookout National Seashore, Mojave National Preserve, and the Rainbow Bridge National Monument. Each park site has hours they are open, directions on how to get there, and interesting information and links that can help a visitor enjoy their experience at the park.

So take some time to visit here, and learn about the National Parks that our country has. They are available to all of us, and are a part of our nation heritage.
