Pearls Before Swine

logo_pearlswine.gifMan, I'm coming off of a LONG day. It's time for a laugh, don't you think?

So today's FamilyFirst pick is good for laughs not just today, but every day. It's the official site of Stephan Pastis's Pearls Before Swine!

This strip, buoyed by a solid endorsement from Dilbert's Scott Adams, has exploded into one of the most successful comics around. And for good reason: it's great!

The characters are easy to remember: Pig, Rat, Goat, Zebra, the crocodiles, and occasional guest stars like the recently featured John and Jennifer Seal, who moved into the neighborhood because it was a safe place to live (thereby causing a killer whale to cancel his pizza order).

Humans are featured as well. Invariably, they are dorks. That's okay, though, invariably some wisdom arises from SOMEONE in each episode.

Learn bout the strip's creator, a former lawyer. Man, I can only imagine how much more fun life is drawing a comic strip instead of facing daily court battles.

You can also get goodies like wallpaper, cursors, and a strip emailed to you every day.

And did you say you were looking for a PBS book? Well, you've come to the right place! You can get Nighthogs, This Little Piggy Stayed Home, and Sgt. Piggy's Lonely Hearts Club Comic, among others destined to be classics.

Enjoy this great site, and its 30 days of strips available to read online. And don't believe those crocodiles!

As a librarian, I loved Thursday's strip. My union often asks for parity with the Police and Firefighters, Stephan provides it!
