Pets With Disabilities

We all love our pets. My two schnauzers bring me such joy that it's scary.

Many folks love their pets and give them tender care despite the disabilities of the aforementioned critters. Today's FamilyFirst site celebrates them, and the pets who have special needs.

It's called Pets With Disabilities, and here's their mission:

Joyce and Michael Dickerson founded the Pets with Disabilities organization. The story of the dogs, Duke and Misty has reached thousands of people worldwide and has helped raise awareness about disabled pets. The organization and website have provided support and information to people whose pets suffer from birth defects or have become disabled due to illness or injury. Pets with Disabilities along with Deweys Wheelchairs for Dogs have funded the purchase of many wheelchairs for homeless pets in need. Pets with Disabilities has been instrumental in helping shelters place their disabled animals into loving and caring homes. We have given a voice and hope for disabled animals! Pets with Disabilities is an all volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping and promoting the adoption of physically disabled animals into great homes. All donations are tax deductible to the extent permissible by law. Contact your tax adviser.

Many of these pets are dogs whose back legs are paralyzed. How do they fare? Quite well, thank you, thanks to wheelchairs that allow them tremendous freedom.

Read the heartwarming stories of folks who have adopted disabled pets. And browse the pets who are available for adoption. These are some seriously cute pets who need your love, and you can earn a tax deduction!
