Piero's, in Las Vegas

A lot of folks make it to Vegas at some point in their lives. My company flies me out there every spring for a nerd convention (Interop). So I've had a chance to eat in lots of restaurants out there.

Some of the dining experiences are pretty amazing. For instance, there's the seafood buffet at the Rio, which has everything from sushi to lobster tails in an amazingly large area. It's well worth the forty bucks it costs. Starve yourself all day first.

But the ultimate dining experience, and the place where I'm taking my wife for a very special 24th anniversary celebration next Monday night, is Piero's. Piero's, located within walking distance of the Convention Center, is an Italian eatery that has cuisine that is so delicious that you will want to cry.

The atmosphere is wonderful, as well. You eat surrounded by Aldo Luongo lithographs, original oils by José Bellver, and huge fresh floral displays on antique pine tables.

And you just might spot a celeb or two there. Wayne Newton, Jerry Tarkanian, Debbie Reynolds, Don King, Jerry Lewis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and many other have been known to stroll in for a meal.

But if you spot one, just sit and have a discreet look or two. Owner Freddie Glusman gets very testy with fans who bug his guests.

So if you find yourself in Vegas, and want to splurge on a nice dinner that will run about 70 bucks a person, give Piero's a try. You'll never forget it.
