Dog Obedience Training Review
July 27, 2007
I've been a dog fan since I got my first one, a miniature poodle named Frisky, back in 1966. Man, that's a long time ago.
Somewhere along the line, I switched to being a fan of the miniature schnauzer, a fine German breed who is renowned for its fearlessness (sometimes to its detriment, as it is braver than it is wise). But Dugan, who is lying at my feet as I pen this article, would jump into fire to protect me. Who wouldn't love a dog like that?
Doogie is a pretty well-trained pooch, as well. For instance, I can take his leash off on our nightly walks in open areas and he will respond to my commands to walk, wait, or stay. He's quite a mutt.
Today's FamilyFirst site will help you to train your own four-legged tail-wagger so that he/she is more a part of your family than a pet who is always getting into trouble.
The site is called Dog Obedience Training Review. Here's their mission:
There are so many theories and so much conflicting advice regarding the various ways to train our dogs - it's hard to know who to trust and what to believe. This is what I personally consider to be crucial, and always strive for when training my own dogs: To build a strong owner-dog relationship, based on trust and mutual respect. To have confidence in, and control of my dogs in any situation. Most importantly to have happy, outgoing dogs that are properly socialized. To work with my dogs natural drives and instincts. Absolutely no cruelty or harsh "old school" training techniques. I certainly don't believe you have to "break a dogs spirit" in the training process.
A well-loved dog should also be a well-trained dog. Check out today's FamilyFirst site and get started training yours today!

Many dogs don't just need obedience training, as many have behavioral problems. That website looks like an excellent source of information.
Nice write up and a good site for obedience training. Would have been nice to have seen more info on puppy training.

There are many different techniques used in dog training, but I believe the best way is with repetition and consistency. One should always use positive reinforcement and focus on what your dog is doing right instead of what your dog does wrong!
Nice article and I really like your site's mission statement. When you get a new puppy it is always best to have a good puppy obedience training plan. As you say you should always build a good relationship with your dog based on mutual trust and respect and there is never ever any excuse for physical abuse. Your dog will respond much better with positive training methods and lots of praise and affection.
You must always treat your dog or puppy as amember of your family.

I believe you should focus on always giving praise and rewards to your dog for their good behavior. This will help strengthen your relationship with your dog, as well as, help develop good doggy habits for your pet.

That was a very nice write up you shared with us! I have visited your site before and found it very informative.
The best way to go about dog training is building a relationship with your dog. A relationship that demands respect and gives it to when needed. Positive dog training is the way to go!
