Sage Blossom Consulting
May 27, 2005

Every morning when I get up and head off for my place of employment, I often think about doing something else. Something that is either exciting and adventuresome (but I'm too old to fly the Space Shuttle), or something where I have to do absolutely nothing, but still make as much as I do now (haven't found it yet, but if you ever do, drop me a line!). Somewhere in between there has to be a way of making a living that I would be interested in. Then I came across today's Family First Site, and now those gears in my head are turning again.
The name of the site is Sage Blossom Consulting, a site with information for anyone who is looking at starting a bed and breakfast. The site is managed by Kit Cassingham, who has almost 20 years as a consultant, lecturer, seminar leader, real estate agent, and inn keeper. Her credentials are quite impressive, and are worth looking at.
Here she takes visitors through the steps of starting and running a bed and breakfast inn. She starts with the basics, such as how much to pay for locations, what are the pitfalls to look out for, and the most critical one, how to establish and maintain a budget. To do this, she have several tools that are available for use. They include a series of articles, a Q&A section, a forum (where you can get help from other B&B'ers), an electronic newsletter, and an eBook. There is also an online overview seminar that is available.
The information here is well presented, and easily understood. Kit is very up front about the amount of work that is involved with accomplishing this business venture, but following her suggestions can help lighten the load and make the job easier. There is no guarantee that you will become an overnight millionaire, but there is no reason why you should not have success in this venture.
