SAT Preparation
June 22, 2005

Our oldest daughter is going to college. She honestly didn't prepare very well, in terms of both money and study preparations. Our youngest one is learning from her sister's mistakes, and so far is getting better grades, so at least she will have a better GPA when she finally graduates. But it takes a lot to get into college these days other than good grades. It takes money (and lots of it), and it takes a well prepared academic goal. That goal should include proof that there is potential from a student, and that student shows the desire to learn at a higher level. There are several ways in which this desire, and proof of potential can be shown. Today's Family First Site looks at one of the ways.
One benchmark for measuring what a student has learned, and how much potential that they have is by taking the SAT, or Scholastic Aptitude Test. I took it when I was in high school, and I guess I did okay. But the education field has changed over the past 30+ years, and our children are being taught at a higher level than I was. There is so much to learn and so little time to learn it. Today's site is one that can help prepare students for taking the SATs. It is called SAT Preparation. It is an online database of questions that are designed to help prepare one for this very important and challenging test. The site is geared towards the new vocabulary section of the test. There are 21 topic areas, with over 3200 questions in the database (and more are being added all the time). The author's goal (which is achieved, in my opinion) is to not only help prepare for the test, but is also useful for anyone wanting to improve their English skills. The author also has several other language-based sites that are interesting, and on the same level as this one.
So if you know someone who is getting ready for the SATs, this is an excellent prep site, one that will help them better their scores. I am going to have my youngest daughter look it over before she takes her test, and hopefully she appreciate this site as much as her dad does.
