Sensible Home
June 26, 2006
As I write this, I am gazing in wonder at my gutted kitchen. We decided to do a MAJOR remodel, which involves all-new kitchen cabinets and countertops.
WHAT WERE WE THINKING?
But seriously, folks . . . homeowners love messing with their homes, whether fixing them up, adding on, taking off, or just general maintenance. It gives you a nice sense of well-being to do something constructive to your house.
That's where today's FamilyFirst site shines. It's dalled Sensible Home by nationally syndicated columnist James Dulley. He describes himself as a mechanical engineer, an avid do-it-yourselfer, and an environmentalist. Sounds like a nice combo to me.
Dulley provides a no-nonsense common sense approach to dealing with issues surrounding home improvement and maintenance. I'm looking to buy some gutter guards soon, and his article on what to look for was very informative.
There are a total of 194 of his columns available here to read. Search by subject to find what you're looking for.
Subscribe to Update Bulletins to be delivered via snailmail or download the pdf's. Update Bulletins are loaded with the latest and greatest info on new tools, supplies, and techniques.
The site design is funky frames, but the wealth of content more than makes up for its circa 1997 design.
So blow the dust off your tools, put on your nailbag, and have fun with home projects at today's FamilyFirst site!
