"Simpsons" Scenes and Their Movie References
September 24, 2007
The Simpsons has become part of American culture. Now right off the bat, I realize that there are parents out there who would not let their children watch the show. Good on you! Despite its animated format, it is certainly NOT a kid's show. The humor is aimed at adults.
That being said, The Simpsons has been on the air for an astonishing twenty years, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Animated series have the distinct advantage that their characters don't have to age. Even Bart's voice doesn't change, as it's done by Nancy Cartwright.
The writing behind the show is nothing short of brilliant. It has an edge to it, to be sure, as it can occasionally make you squirm in your seat. But it's always hilarious.
One of the show's common themes is parody of movies. Today's FamilyFirst pick is a large collection of Simpsons parodies and their original sources side-by-side. It's a page full of graphics, but dial-up users, once it's loaded, you'll be able to enjoy it as well.
