Stapler Museum and Hall of Fame Online
March 28, 2007
"Excuse me! Excuse me! I believe you have my stapler!"
Milton was very concerned about his favorite stapler, a red Swingline, in the movie Office Space. While the more normal amongst us are probably not as emotionally attached to our office equipment, we still depend heavily on little mundane items like staplers to go through our workdays.
Today's FamilyFirst site is the Stapler Museum and Hall of Fame Online. It's a slightly tongue-in-cheek presentation that I believe you'll find a pleasant diversion.
Basically, it's a fgew company employees looking to break the monotony of cubicle land with a bit of fun.
An employee leaves, his stapler is left behind, the museum is born.
The collection grows over time (downsizing, more than likely) and is displayed in an employee's cubicle. As more staplers are added, they are susupended in the air by some sort of unspecified mechanism. Then, things get ugly. Note this quote:
In June of 1999, the collection was "officially recognized" by upper management for the first time in almost three years. Public display of the Collection was unceremoniously banned, as the Curator was confronted with probing questions such as "Is this somebody's idea of humor?"
However, the collection had made it onto the internet by then. It was immortalized, and caught the attention of the world. It now lives on and is bigger than ever, though no longer in the aforementioned employee's cubicle.
Hey, a little lightweight fun never hurt anyone. Go check out the site.
