Star Trek DS9

The world is made up of two camps of people: those who “get” Star Trek, and those who don't.

Among Star Trek fans, there is further division. Fans of the original series and The Next Generation tend to dismiss the later incarnations of the show: Deep Space nine, Voyager, and Enterprise.

I'm right in the middle. I like them all. My favorite at the moment is one that was spurned by perhaps the greatest number of Trek fans overall: Deep Space Nine.

I just thought the Bajoran/Cardassian thing was a fascinating tale. The concept of a takeover of a rich planet by a warrior race who just happened to look like reptiles, well, I guess I'm just a sucker for a good old wild west story like that.

This site is Deep Space Nine's “official” one. And, as you might expect, it's loaded with videos, sounds, fan forums, and downloadable episodes from Google's video store.

You can watch a seven minute video that outlines the history of Bajor, and why that foxy Kira hated those Cardassians so much.

Of course, there are also character bios, chat transcripts from when actors were online, episode summaries, and lots of articles. You can order season DVD's, too.

So let the debate continue of what Star Trek show was the best and/or worst. But here's my humble vote for DS9's deep character development and its exploration of space spirituality. And may I again stress that Kira was a fox!
