Stella's Yard

I've been fighting the battle against the “remodel from ****” for over a year. The end is in sight. I took a week off of work (my SECOND week of vacation time for this monstrosity!) to work on the hall bath. It should be done before July is finished. Then, all that's left (all?) is landscaping my yard.

Fortunately, site's like today's FamilyFirst pick are out there to help. It's called Stella's Yard. Here's their mission:

This site will help you create gardens and landscapes that are beautiful, personal and meaningful. Throughout these pages you will find step by step gardening and landscape design plans that are easy to follow and best of all-free! There are articles covering landscape design tips, plant placement, garden bed creation, backyard renovation, garden color usage, garden ornamentation and many other topics. Many of you are just looking for landscaping ideas or landscaping photos. There's something here for everyone. If you're searching for inspiration, check out the gallery images. If you like to peek at other people's gardens-try the guest gardens section. There's original garden art to view in the garden artist spotlight category. For all you "do it yourself" enthusiasts-check out the free plans, vegetarian friendly recipes, and the homemade olive oil soap recipe.

I'm all over landscaping on a budget. This money pit has drained me dry. And Stella is kind enough to point the way.

For instance, there is a real art to creating a garden bed. Stella shows you how to be creative with a wall and strategic digging out of the growth area.

She shows you a lot more, too. Unfortunately, you Linux+Firefox users like myself will have to deal with a design friendly to IE and Windoze. But the content will make the site's idiosyncrasies worth tolerating. Now get out there and get to work!
