Ted Estes' Pinball Page
March 24, 2007
Everyone has things that they are passionate about. Some are appealing to a large contingent, others march to their own distinct drummers.
For instance, I work with a kind, compassionate guy who has spent hundreds of dollars covering himself in tattoos. For the life of me, I don't understand it, but I respect it.
Today's FamilyFirst site is that of a man who is passionate about pinball machines.
I have no trouble relating to that. I love 'em myself.
The site is Ted Estes' homepage. He has snagged a great domain name which may be put to work down the line, but for now, it's home to his pinball obsession.
I was blown away by his account of buying one of the last two Williams pinball games ever manufactured. He has photos of the game being assembled, along with poignant shots of newly-laid-off employees. The back of his game is covered with their autographs. Note his comments:
Even though my game was the next to last off the line (the fine folks at the factory were under strict orders to save the last one), I firmly feel that my game is the last one that counts. Since I'm certain that the final game ended up in the hands of a certain CEO, I can say that my game is the last one off the line that WMS sold.
That's good stuff, folks.
