Terra Bite Lounge

Ah, the honor system.

It's still around, if you look hard.

We had a restaurant in my area back in the 70's that operated on the honor system. You ordered a meal, enjoyed it, then payed what you thought it was worth.

They lasted three months. That's a sad commentary on my locale in the 70's.

However, there's another restaurant trying the same concept. And it's working for them.

It's called the Terra Bite Lounge. They are located in Kirkland, Washington. Here's their philosophy:

Patrons choose what to pay, and are encouraged to pay what they would elsewhere. You may use this as a convenience feature, e.g. get your daily coffee and drop in a $20 at the end of the week. We also cheerfully serve those who cannot pay, in a non-stigmatizing customer setting, with no political or religious message, and with full-time availability.

If you admire what they do, you can throw a few bucks their way via PayPal, or by some "schwag."

Either way, enjoy their site.
